Univ.-Prof.in Dr.in Lic. iur. can. Sabine Konrad

Academic career


Sabine Konrad studied Catholic theology at the Universities of Passau and Munich. During her studies she spent a year in South America (Buenos Aires/Argentina and Alto Paraná/Paraguay) to gain practical experience in social and pastoral work and to develop intercultural skills. Even then, she focused on canon law. She wrote her diploma thesis on the gathering of evidence in canonical proceedings. In 2006, she completed her studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich with a diploma.

From 2006 to 2008, she worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Canon Law, especially Marriage Law, Procedural Law, Criminal Law and State-Church Law, and completed her doctoral studies. She received her doctorate in theology from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2008 with a thesis on "Psychological disorders and their assessment in marriage annulment proceedings".

From 2009 to 2020, she worked as a research assistant and later as an academic councillor in canon law at the University of Augsburg in research and teaching.

Between 2012 and 2015, she completed her studies in Canon Law at the Klaus-Mörsdorf-Studium für Kanonistik at LMU Munich. She wrote her licentiate thesis on "The Concordat Marriage in Spain. She researched the special state-church law situation regarding concordat marriage during several research stays at the Pontificia Universidad Comillas/Madrid and during seminars at the Instituto Superior de Direito Canónico of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa/Lisbon. In 2015, she graduated as a licentiate in canon law.

In 2020, she was appointed to the Karl Franzens University of Graz. There she has been head of the Institute of Canon Law since October 2020; since 01.10.2021 she has been Vice Dean of Studies/Research Dean of the Faculty of Catholic Theology in Graz.
